Organizers: Digital Imaging Technology SIG, Museum Computer Network Taiwan Chapter

Date:June 11, 2010 (Friday) 13:30-17:00

Location: 106 Meeting Room, Academia Sinica Institute of Information Science (IIS)

The Digital Imaging Technology SIG, Museum Computer Network Taiwan Chapter is founded for primarily serving general cultural heritage communities (e.g. museums, libraries, and archives) and also for theoretical and practical discussion and exchange on digital technology of archive images as well as the related standards and qualities when applying digital images to different materials.

Images digitization has been carried out for years in Taiwan. The process of reproducing images improves with the development of digital imaging technology whether in digitization process or in reproduction of images on different materials . The analytical standard of digital image quality and the reproduction of digital images on paper are the two topics that digital archive workers are usually talking about.

The Digital Imaging Technology SIG of Museum Computer Network Taiwan Chapter invites Mr. Cheng-Hsiung Chen, the president of Printing Technology Research Institute, to have a speech, talking about the reproducing quality of digital archives. In recent years, Printing Technology Research Institute has made every endeavor to promote the domestic printing industries to connect to the world, and to help the domestic companies to through the ISO quality certification. Well-experienced in image reproduction of digital archives, Mr. Cheng-Hsiung Chen will show us his great achievement. Next, Digital Imaging Technology SIG demonstrates the factor analysis of the quality of digital images, helping the attendees understand the factors influencing the image quality in the digitization process, providing a reference for further quality improvements. And then Printing Technology Research Institute will introduce us how to determine the quality of printing and explain it by some examples, which will help the participants further understand how to determine the quality of domestic printing media, providing a reference for the digital archive workers to produce printed matters (catalogs or reproductions) and giving the outsourced companies a quality reference during reproducing.
