Date: 2009/06/26 (Fri.)13:10-16:40

Entitled “Application of Digital Museum,” the workshop will introduce museum-related educational application and promotion, inviting three renowned speakers from museum, school and industry respectively to help participants gain an in-depth insight of major local and international museums’ current and future development in educational application and promotion of digital museum.

Educational Application and Promotion SIG, MCN Taiwan has been formed to serve educational/promotional staff and IT personnel of museums, art galleries and social education institutions, as well as museology researchers, on digital archiving development, digital learning and digital museum education application and promotion issues, establishing a platform for interaction and sharing on innovative IT application and R&D, information system establishment and value-added application, educational/promotional services, as well as exploration of practices in social group management and sharing of academic study findings.

Educational Application and Promotion SIG holds periodical group meetings, in which group members take turns presenting theory and practice cases pertinent to the topical issues for sharing and discussion; scholars and experts from academic institutions, schools and vendors may be invited to give lectures and/or preside over discussion. Through publication of electronic bulletins, it informs SIG members of innovative technologies, application cases and activity information relating to local and international museum digital collection, digital learning, digital museum and educational application and promotion. Through an online forum (http://mcntw.teldap.tw/phpBB/index.php) SIG members are engaged in discussions over “educational application and promotion” study, technology and industrial development, and encouraged to share on what they gather from reading related books.

In view of the fact that we have renowned or resourceful museums in Taiwan, the SIG will organize workshops on issues pertaining to museum educational application and promotion, so the rich educational resources of museums may be made available to teachers, students, parents and concerned educational institutions. A series of discussions on digital museum and museum’s digital learning resource will also be held to communicate the precious collections and abundant resources of museums to more people through more digitalized or diversified educational applications and promotions.
